This is my crummy blog:

Re: Global South

My point is that the priests that we in the "West" (Europe, America, Australia) are getting from the so called "Global South" (being Africa, Asia, India, etc.) tend more toward Orthodoxy than our native priests, and that this Orthodoxy is sometimes explained by liberals as being characteristic of the ethnic and racial background of the priests from said "Global South."

Poland is not in the Global South, but the article did mention priests coming to England from India and Nigeria as well.

It could be thinly veiled racism The good priests of the "Global South" are coming to the West to reevangelize our lagging culture.

My Irish friend has a grandmother who worries about the priest shortage there. To me, she says that she is sorry for the state of a church that can't produce its own native clergy. Privately, she says to her grandson "before you know it, they'll be sending the [common racial epithet for persons of African decent] priests over here."

God, send us holy priests! It doesn't matter where they come from!

I read a fantabulous essay on how the bishops dealt Catholic identity in Britain a severe blow by telling Catholics to stop eating fish on Friday. I think it was by Eamonn Duffy.

If a bishop suggests that the magisterium isn't right about everything, doesn't that rather undercut his authority to say that the magisterium isn't right about everything? Is he proving his own point? Or not? Hmm.... (Scratches head, wonders where dinner is.)

“Some foreign priests working in Britain tend to be too dogmatic about the church’s moral rightness on just about everything,”

Er...my sharp-as-a-spoon mind can't quite wrap around this one. This is a bad thing?!
