Bishop Schneider speaks.
And Chris Ferrara makes a reasonable request: “Show me the numbers that justify worldwide panic and suspension of civil liberties over a virus that has not killed even a tiny fraction of the people who are dying of the flu all over the world right now.”

“Show me the numbers that justify worldwide panic and suspension of civil liberties over a virus that has not killed even a tiny fraction of the people who are dying of the flu all over the world right now.”
The question is specious. The flu number is more or less a constant with some seasonal variation and our healthcare system handles it. The healthcare system can’t handle a massive influx of people with severe symptoms, which incapacitates the system *for everyone.*
The numbers are widely available, on multiple websites, as are the reports of Italian hospitals engaged in the worst sorts of triage. I’ve read that COVID-19 patients in Italy over the age of 80 are left to die.

Surely even if it were a mere duplication of annual flu deaths that would be a very serious problem? As it happens the symptoms appear to be much worse and the public have no resistance to it.

Ferrara was saying it was only a small fraction of the number of flu deaths.
How much is really known about it? Here’s an article from a professor of epidemiology at Stanford.

Apparently the governor of Pennsylvania has shut down the state after just one death. That seems strange.

How many deaths is he supposed to wait for? And once that number is reached, the disease already spreading within the community and countermeasures are too late.
We’ve already seen how the disease can take down a modern country (Italy). We’ve already seen it wreak havoc in a nursing home in Washington State. Prevention, when still possible, is better than trying halt the spread once the disease takes root.
None of this is a secret. If you ask the government why they’re doing what they’re doing, they’ll say what I just said above.
